Escalating Tea Party Violence Didn’t Begin With Lauren Valle

Perhaps the only bright point of the recent deplorable head-stomping incident at the recent debate between Rand Paul and Jack Conway is that it has perhaps started to open the eyes of sane and normal Americans to how truly dangerous some of the Tea Partiers really are.

You see, it turns out this was not an isolated incident, with an October 15th attack on a protester at a Washington State Tea Party stalwart’s headquarters flying beneath the radar until Lauren Valle’s unspeakable treatment at the hands of a bunch of nuts in Kentucky.

You know, the Tea Party was kind of funny to me for a long time. The sheer ignorance existing within their ranks just has …

Tennessee Mosque the Victim Of a Hate Crime

Newsflash: we are sharing the earth with a group of raging assholes. At least that’s what the recent burning of a Murfreesboro, Tennessee mosque construction site seems to suggest.  The incident, in which someone poured flammable liquid on four pieces of construction equipment, is being investigated as arson.  My question is, who the hell raised these arsonists?  And where are their mothers?

A spokeswoman for the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, Carmie Ayash, said:

“Everyone in our community no longer feels safe.  To set a fire that could have blown up equipment and, God forbid, spread and caused damage to the neighbors there … we really feel like this is something that we and the neighbors don’t deserve.”

President Obama and the So-Called Ground Zero Mosque

Sometimes a person can’t win no matter what he or she does. Speaking out publicly on an issue? You’re butting your nose in where it doesn’t belong. Remaining silent so your name is kept out of it? You are silently consenting to a twisted truth set forth by your political opponents.

Civil rights activists did it. Feminists did it. And now, the President of the United States has done it … and being “hen-pecked” extensively for it.

Barack Obama, who a frightening percentage of Americans believe is Muslim despite significant proof to the contrary, found himself between the proverbial rock and hard place recently with regard to the “Ground Zero Mosque.”

From AOL News:

Speaking to Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadan at the White House on Friday, Obama asserted that Muslims have the right to build the planned mosque, citing freedom of religion as a core American value.

Yup, freedom of religion. That goes back to the very same U.S. Constitution that the Tea Partiers pontificate on again and again and again … as it suits their political agenda, of course. That President Obama made the same point, and in a far more legitimate and real life situation then much of the right-wing spinmesiters, must have the Tea Party grinding its collective teeth.

Look at the mess Sarah Palin made of the so-called Ground Zero Mosque. It’s simply disgusting.

Perhaps even more disgusting, though, is the implication that Obama is perpetuating Islamic terrorism through his support of a house of worship.

The NAACP + The Tea Party = The Shirley Sherrod Debacle?

If you follow the news at all, you’ve more likely than not heard the name Shirley Sherrod. While you’re probably aware of the veritable circus being made out of comments she made at an NAACP event, you might be a little foggy on the whole story. I know I was.

Basically, Shirley Sherrod was the USDA Director of Rural Development for the state of Georgia until she quit abruptly last week just before a media storm of epic proportions. Her resignation came about after conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart posted excerpts on July 19 of a video taken of Sherrod speaking about the importance of overcoming personal prejudices.

Sherrod’s comments, which were pretty obviously taken out of context in an edited two minute clip, come off as sounding about as racist as they come when speaking about her laissez faire attitude in helping white farmers because of their skin color. Sherrod was pressured to resign and ultimately did so via an e-mail sent from her BlackBerry on the side of a road.

From Politics Daily:

Sherrod made headlines Tuesday morning after a video clip surfaced from a speech she made in March to an NAACP forum recounting her meeting with a struggling white farmer who came to her for help in 1986.

“Here I was faced with having to help a white person save their land,” Sherrod said about her feelings 24 years ago. “So, I didn’t give him the full force of what I could do. I did enough so that when he (went to state or federal officials) he needed to go back and report that I did try to help him.”

Sherrod told CNN on Tuesday that the clip was taken out of context. She said she described the decades-old incident with the white farmer because she has since come to realize her mistake. “Working with him helped me realize the issue is not about race, it’s about those who have and those who have not,” she said.

And now the backlash has begun.

Howard Dean, former Democratic National Committee Chairman (and former presidential candidate), is making strong racist claims against Fox News, whose Bill O’Reilly led the charge in smearing Sherrod’s name.
