Dan Savage To Get His Own MTV Show, Give Dr. Drew A Run For His Money

Dan Savage is attached to an advice show to be aired on MTV that will hopefully be better than anything Dr. Drew has done. Known for his advice column Savage Love” in Seattle’s The Stranger, he’ll be touring college campuses and giving sex and relationship advice to its students, similar to the untelevised tour he just completed.

Savage has always been more than just an advice columnist; he’s an advice columnist with an agenda, and that’s what makes him so powerful. We’ve often turned to our advice columns for un-biased, third-party observations, for individuals who will tell us what we don’t want to hear but know is true. Looks Like Those Ugly “Workout While You Walk” Sneaks Are Just Hype

There’s an interesting societal trend toward the path of least resistance, to the “magic solution” that will give maximum results with minimal effort.  The modern day equivalent of snake oil salesmen thrive in large part because the idea of losing weight, increasing sexual prowess, whatever in effortless and relatively inexpensive ways make for an easy bandwagon to jump upon.

Those ugly toning sneakers (such as Shape-ups by Skechers), the funny-looking ones with the thick sole that supposedly provides a gym workout while walking, are just the latest in a long line of fads that appear to have been outed as a bunch of hype.

$1.5 billion worth of hype, in fact, as an astoundingly large number of people decide to work out while they walked.

I hate to say this but sometimes boycotts can be a little, well, dull.  They’re just so very predictable.  We’ve all experienced the overly hyped sign carrier spouting politic views, or worse wanting you to donate to their cause. Whenever I am approached by one of these people I can’t help but think that I am taking part in a poorly executed Saturday Night Live skit, complete with the clichéd angry activist and random everyday citizens. It’s just not as funny.
