Is List of Meals “Any Dad Should be Able to Make” Offensive?

There is a stereotype that women are captains of the kitchen, slaves to the stove, culinary masters.  As a woman that’s pretty much incapable of cooking, I find myself wondering quite often where this notion comes from.  I mean, obviously I know its genesis was a different time when the job description for having ovaries did in fact require cooking skills, but what makes it perpetuate today?

Well, perhaps one source for the ridiculous notion that women are queens of cuisine is a site called “Man of the House”, where the focus is on … well, clearly, the man of a given house.

A recent piece posted there offers a list of “items that any self-respecting husband or dad should be prepared to prepare at a moment’s notice”.

Um … no.

Chocolate Milk Under Fire?

There’s a pretty common knowledge base in terms of drinking milk (or taking in calcium in some other way, shape, or form) leading to stronger, healthier bones.  After all, who wants to develop osteoporosis, to have an increased risk of breaking a hip or something in a fall, of being deficient in vitamins or minerals that are fairly easy to get, nutritionally speaking?
