It looks like Iran’s Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a woman sentenced to death for adultery, might avoid stoning after all.  Iran apparently has a human rights council (did you know that?  I did not know that!), and some of its members are stating publicly that it looks like Ashtiani’s punishment might not be the ultimate.  It must have been all those boobs

Iran Tries to Join UN Women’s Equality Committee, Entire World Spazzes

According to The Globe, Iran has entered a bid to be a part of “a powerful new UN agency promoting equality for women,” and the powers-that-be – like the USA – are not quite too happy about it.

There is no doubt that the Iranian government has committed unspeakable human rights violations against women – this has been especially apparent in recent months due to public outcry at the death sentence of stoning for a woman who was accused of adultery.

Iranian Women’s Rugby Team Plays in Veils for First European Game

The Iranian women’s rugby team played in Europe for the first time this week. Taking to the field in tight-fitting headscarves and full tracksuits to protect their modesty, they were initially defeated 10-0 by host nation Italy. But the players bounced back in their subsequent games, eventually defeating the Valsugana team with a convincing 10-3 victory.

The players played wearing the maghnaeh, a veil that fully covers the head, shoulder and neck, along with a black and red tracksuit top and bottoms covering their arms and legs. Iranian team coach Fatme Molai, who has been in the job for the past four years, said of the attire:
