The Ongoing Tragedy of Eva Longoria

A couple of years ago, when Desperate Housewives was still relevant and Eva Longoria had just chopped off her hair into a modest bob to facilitate her character’s jump in time where she went from hot housewife to slightly frumpy mom, Allure did a cover story on the star in which the reporter speculated that Longoria and her then-husband Tony Parker were suffering from infertility problems. The assumption was made based on the fact that, at the time, Longoria had put on a bit of weight to frumpify herself for the role, which had many tabloids labeling her extra belly fat as a baby bump. Why Are Women More Likely to Initiate Divorce?

2010 brought many highly publicized celebrity divorces.  For instance, Jesse James and Sandra Bullock, Eva Longoria and Tony Parker, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, Courtney Cox and David Arquette, and Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman to name just a few.  The one thing nearly all these break-ups had in common? The women were the ones calling it quits.

Not surprisingly, the National Marriage Project suggests that two-thirds of divorces are initiated by women.   It appears that the wives are the ones taking the initiative to call off marriages that are no longer working.
