I suppose we owe a debt of gratitude to Herman Cain, in some strange way. The seriousness of sexual harassment has come once more into the forefront, and that means that conversations are happening.
Important ones.
I realize that sometimes the line gets blurred, that people take things the wrong way, and so on … but the fact remains that sexual harassment is a problem. A big one.
Serious ones.
And the truth of the matter is, virtually all of these areas of concern are made …

Now, I’m not being as flip about the significance of the abortion debate, I’m really not. If you’re anti-choice, that’s your prerogative, and I totally respect that. To you, in fact, the news out of Frisco is probably not something to be happy about.
Still, in times of such bizarre political upheaval, it’s kind of refreshing to see a law … well, you know, upheld. The city’s Board of Supervisors passed a 10-1 reaffirmation last week on a proposal that “would bar pregnancy crisis centers from engaging in false or misleading advertising practices.”
In other words, crisis pregnancy centers will be legally required to put their cards on the table in terms of the degree of services they provide.

There’s no doubt about it, the mother/daughter dynamic can be tough. Words and actions can be easily misconstrued—on both sides—and it can ultimately lead to a lot of pain and heartache.
And, evidently, murder.
In 2009, Joanne Witt of California was brutally stabbed to death in a plot hatched by her daughter Tylar, then just fourteen years old, and Tylar’s 19-year-old boyfriend, Steven Colver.
Seems Ms. Witt had the audacity to go to the police and file a statutory rape claim against Colver, now twenty-one, giving authorities Tylar’s diary as evidence.

Well, Maria Shriver decided to file for divorce against her philandering husband. After twenty-five years, four kids, and at least one proven affair on the part of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Shriver evidently figured it had been enough.

Maria Shriver cited “irreconcilable differences” in a petition filed Friday to dissolve her 25-year marriage to former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The move comes more than a month after Schwarzenegger acknowledged that he fathered a child outside of his marriage.
The couple announced their separation on May 9, calling it a mutual decision made “after a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer.”
Honestly, I’m kind of surprised by this. It’s a blanket assumption to state that all men cheat (just as, like some men claim, the same is true of women), but I’m pretty comfortable stating that, once someone has cheated, the odds are pretty good that they’ll cheat again.
When Schwarzenegger’s out-of-wedlock use of his Terminator became public knowledge, I was a bit taken aback that Shriver didn’t file for divorce immediately. I know time is the healer of all wounds and so forth, but it seems to me that the timeline on this whole thing is a little strange.
I’d figured that she’d decided to let him squirm but that, ultimately, they’d stay together.
