Study Proves That an Ideal Female Body Exists … But Does it Matter?

Photos of Different Body Types in Women
I have met very few females that are 100% comfortable with their bodies. Everyone from movie stars to supermodels to Jane the Plumber has some sort of flaw—real or imagined—that they are sensitive about.

A recent study conducted by Australian and Hong Kong scientists (and published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology) does not exactly give a warm fuzzy feeling to those of us with the stomach flab that never quite bounced back after having a baby, facial hair, knobby knees, short stature, no butt, or any other perceived imperfection you can imagine.

Nope, the ideal woman is young, tall, and long-armed.

I’m freaking screwed.

From Science Daily:

“Physical attractiveness is an important determining factor for evolutionary, social, and economic success,” said lead author Robert Brooks from the University of New South Wales. “The dimensions of someone’s body can tell observers if that person is suitable as a potential mate, a long term partner, or perhaps the threat they pose as a sexual competitor.”

It’s interesting how evolution has been dragged into this along with the notion that Darwin’s idea of natural selection extends to the purely physical. And perhaps not entirely surprisingly, that mindset has led to a look at torso, waist, bust, and hip measurements—it’s all about childbearing, don’t you know?

The women used as “models” were Chinese women between 20-49, quite an age gap when you think …

Fox News Takes on Pedophile Group’s Facebook Presence

Photo of the Warren Cup

I guess it should come as no surprise to anyone that Facebook, like AIM and MySpace before it, has become something of a tool for pedophiles to stalk their prey. What is a bit shocking, though, is the very public presence on the social networking site that the nebulous NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) has achieved.

In fact, I give mad props to Fox News (hard as it is to believe) for bringing this extremely serious issue into the limelight, resulting in action by Facebook, a day late and a dollar short thought it may be, to rid itself of the presence of these dangerous people.

“Birth Rape” a Serious Matter

Photo of Woman in Labor Screaming
Childbirth is an experience that’s almost impossible to describe. The combination of exhilarating joy and agonizing pain that ultimately leads to the arrival of a brand new life is a reminder of the beauty of nature, so to speak (cue The Lion King soundtrack).

I have given birth twice, once a quickie three hour labor that was pretty much over before it began and the other a 19 ½ hour marathon that involved pitocin and epidurals. There were highs and lows in both, of course, but I will always equate childbirth first and foremost with the treasure that was placed into my hands rather than the (considerable) physical pain.

While there have been studies conducted on a connection between childbirth and conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder and postpartum depression (and discussions about whether or not dads should do their pacing right in the delivery room), a new exacerbation of the typical pain of labor and delivery with what is being known as “birth rape” is becoming more widely discussed.

From Australia’s The Age:

Examples of birth rape include internal vaginal examinations without consent, breaking membranes without consent and inserting of forceps and other instruments into the vagina against the mother’s wishes.

Some women who claim to have experienced birth rape describe incidents where doctors or midwives made belittling and degrading comments when they could not birth fast enough, stitching lacerations without anaesthetic and inserting catheters without warning.

“Mancation” Resort Opens in Australia, Claims That Their Staff Does Not Give Blow Jobs

Alright, everyone. We’re gonna play a little game today. I want you to close your eyes. Come on, trust me now! Okay Good. Imagine that you’re in Australia. It’s in the low eighties with a slight breeze; the sky is blue. You’re staying in a hotel that is located directly on Lake Maquarie. You have just woken up and are sitting outside on the porch of your hotel room. And, the only decision you have to make is this:

Should I have a hot girl bring me breakfast, or give me a back massage?

What’s that, you say? You think this is really stupid and want to stop? But come on! This kind of stuff doesn’t happen in real life! It’s just a game! Fantasy!

Well, until now. In a lovely display of obnoxious gender norms, a new resort is set to open in Australia whose main objective is to “play on popular male fantasy.” Apparently, they plan to do this by occupying a resort with a bevy of sexy models (or resort “staff”) whose …
