Katie’s “Five Things to Know About Me”
Writing has always been a huge part of my life. I wrote (and directed … and usually starred in—what can I say, I’m multi-talented) plays for neighborhood kids to “perform” when I was a little kid then moved onto my first novel (it totally sucked) when I was in seventh grade. I’m now focused on blogging, novels (ones that don’t totally suck), and educational grant-writing.
I teach high school English. This means that I get to work with adolescents all day, which explains a great deal about me. No, seriously, I love it and cannot imagine doing anything else (except writing all day—see #1). My students teach me just as much (if not more) on any given day as I teach them, and they make me laugh like you cannot imagine (ask any teacher—we have the best stories … it’s a fact).
I live in an estrogen house. Because of my recent divorce, my two daughters (ages fifteen and six) and I are living with my mother. We also have two dogs, a black lab and a golden retriever, and they are both female as well. Things get very interesting here sometimes …
Some things that I love: the ocean, books (I will read absolutely anything), cheeseburgers, shoes, hanging out with friends, NCIS, Facebook, Bacardi 151, my CrackBerry, Scrabble, pedicures, puzzles, Stephen King, my Snuggie (shut up), the smell of Lilacs, and cool quotes.
Some things that I hate: thunderstorms, airplanes, feet, grouchy people, ketchup, and laziness.

KATIE!
I have just read your most recent post on your personal blog, about Gone With the Wind, and I already love you. Looking forward to reading you here.
Much love.
Thanks, Mireee :-) I’m so excited to be interacting with such a great group of people! <3
Good luck with that. Come over to the beet sometime to stretch your legs.
Maybe she’d rather write articles about current events in regards to feminism than which celebrity got a new pair of rubber tits.
Ha! wouldn’t it be cool if the were really rubber, BOING!
Congratulations on this venture Katie! Please share your work with us on FB, so we don’t miss anything. Be well, Courtney (O’Brien) Brooks
FIrst off, you forgot to write that you hate sticky notes. As for reading books, I guess that goes for all books except the ones I recommend. Have you read Water for Elephants yet? It’s an amazing book. Now I plan on stalking your post in my limited free time until letters are edited and papers are published. Consider yourself warned.
Note to everybody–this is why you never become a teacher ;) And I LOVED “Water for Elephants”!
Hey Katie,
I’ve been reading this blog for while now but only really got into when you signed on. I find myself being interested almost exclusively in posts you write and just wanted to let you know that you make my days at work more intellectually stimulating. Keep it up and thanks, you rock!
Thanks, Chels :-) I’ve had the kind of day today where I needed something like your pick-me-up. Really appreciate it <3
Exceedingly revealing bless you, I presume your current subscribers could very well want further information similar to this continue the great effort.
