The wise man that raised me had a saying: "The universe works". In other words, you follow your dreams as best you can, make sure you're happy along the way, and you'll usually end up in the right place. I know people that gave up happiness for what they thought was their dream job, and they wound up completely miserable. The fact that you made it as far as moving out there shows that you're serious, and is more than a lot of people do vis a vis their life dreams. It's really easy to get caught up in making lists, but things look different on paper than they sometimes feel in the heart. I'm not sure it's different for genders, either ... going with the flow and searching for improved quality of life at the same time is a complex balance for everyone.
