It’s always fun to shame guys for their ways of getting around in bed. Women can always remind themselves that while there are a handful of sluts, (whether you consider sluttiness good, bad or obsolete, it’s just the most well known term for those ladies who get around) the majority of the male population is busy thinking about, trying to, or in the process of getting it on. However, recent studies have revealed that while men are more commonly found sleeping around, gender has very little to do with it. As it turns out, power is the main influence on sleeping around and infidelity.
A survey conducted by a group of researchers in the Netherlands concluded that when the power scale was equaled out, women cheated and slept around just as much as men did .The survey of 1561 professionals, male and female, who shared similar careers and feelings of power, showed that powerful people, regardless of gender, are …
… more likely to have infidelities.
According to Psychologist Joris Lammers, who worked on the study, “There has been a lot of research in the past that indicates that gender is the strongest predictor of infidelity, but none of these studies have been done on powerful women. People often assume that powerful men may be more likely to cheat because they have risk-taking personalities or because of distance, such as frequent business trips that many powerful people go on. We found little correlation between either of the two.”
So why is it that power leads to a raging sex life? The researchers behind the study believe that power equals confidence, and confident is one of the sexiest things that a person can be. Oh and naturally, sexy people tend to have more sex. So while this study was conducted for scientific purposes, and not as a way of backing up various claims found in magazines like Cosmopolitan, the findings definitely help support the fact that confidence is sexy. So whether your a Wall Street Financial Advisor or you live alone with your 197 cats, just keep it calm, cool, and a confident and you’ll be sleeping around like a pro in no time.
I have not had a chance to look at the study mentioned above, but I certainly plan to. However, even without having seen it I already know that what Anna Shapiro states above is simply not true. Some men, and I would imagine many more women, seem unable to let go of those classic feminist dogmas and articles of faith that became fashionable to believe in the late 60′s and early 70′s, despite their being patently ridiculous.
Men and woman always have been and always will be, inherently and intrinsically, radically different when it comes to issues of sexuality.
This is self-apparent to anyone who has experienced the tragi-comedy that is the high school/college/singles dating scene in the United States.
Women never have, and never will have to, spend much time convincing men to come home with them (that is grossly understated, by the way). It is the men who have to invest tremendous efforts and creativity to convince women. Bars have ladies nights to bring in women, which will then bring in more men, not the opposite. Unclothed male models as centerfolds are for the most part, appealing to male homosexuals, not women. This is so fundamentally obvious it is amazing that is still a subject that is open to discussion. After looking at the study I will write more.
Sincerely, Moshe Averick

OK, so the “guy without his shirt” feature in Cosmo was intended for male readers? ;)
Hi Beth,
I don’t look at Cosmo (is that Cosmopolitan?) so I don’t know what picture you are referring to. Perhaps let me put it a different way. For every picture of some muscular guy that is published to appeal specifically to woman (which may very well have been the case for the Cosmo picture), there are a thousand, maybe ten thousand pictures of naked or semi-clothed woman that are published to appeal to men. For every male strip club like Chippendale’s (if they still are in business) there are a thousand strip clubs for men. women go in groups to male strip clubs, men sit by themselves for hours at strip clubs staring at women. If you decide to go into the porno business I have some solid advice for you; make porno that appeals to men, you have a real shot a making money.
