I guess if you’re a little-known actor, one approach to getting your name in print is to kill your mother with a sword. I’m not trying to be flip, either … I mean, killing your mother is bad enough. Is it really necessary to skewer the woman? Yup, I guess we’ll all remember your name now, Michael Brea.
Officers responding to a call of a family dispute found 55-year-old Yannick Brea kneeling in the bathroom of her Brooklyn apartment at about 2:20 a.m. She had cuts to her head and was pronounced dead at the scene, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.
“In a bedroom was her son … with a 3-foot sword,” Kelly said.

The son, Michael Brea, 31, was arrested on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
That’s got to be one hell of a scene for officials to walk in on … and sadly evident based on the circumstances that this guy, whose claims to fame include small parts on Ugly Betty and Step Up 3D (which must have been really small since the guy didn’t show up on IMDB), killed the woman who gave birth to him. With a sword.
Neighbors told reporters they could hear screams outside and inside the building in the Prospect Heights neighborhood.
“I heard this wild screaming,” Gregory Clare, who lived in the building, told the Daily News of New York. He said he heard screams of “‘Repent, repent, sinner, sinner,’ over and over again,” and “‘You never accepted Jesus.’”
Police also said a Bible was found in the apartment, but Kelly wasn’t sure where.
Family altercations are all too common. I’m going to assume based on earwitness reports that Brea’s upbringing was probably not pleasant. However, this does not give him the right to kill his mother. With a sword (yes, I’m hung up on that sword thing).
It is impossible to know what goes on in families, and the truth is almost never seen by the public eye. I have seen, experienced, read about, and heard of family dynamics that looked ideal on the outside being utter hell in reality. And sometimes, it is so hard to leave …
And yet I find it perturbing that a 31-year-old man wouldn’t have just walked out the door if a fight was getting acrimonious. I wasn’t there and obviously can’t speak to what happened, but I just can’t come up with any sort of imagined scenario where it’s okay for a grown man to take a sword to a 55-year-old woman.
Brea is currently getting a psych eval done at Kings County Hospital.

The guy said that his mother was possessed by a demon,so he killed her with a special Freemason sword. I think thats the proper way,at least thats what they said on Glenn Beck,lol.
This has to be one of the saddest stories I have seen in a while. This man (seems to be at least) desperately ill and now his mother is dead at his hands. Even if he is ill and they manage to medicate him back to some semblance of normalcy, how is he going to live with what he did when he was sick? I feel absolutely awful for this family.
