Well, if you believe her Senatorial opponent Democrat Chris Coons, Delaware’s Christine O’Donnell is not just hard-lined on masturbation but actually wants to keep gays and lesbians out of the military. Oh, and women, too.
From an e-mail sent out by Coons’ campaign:
Senate Republicans today are attempting to stop a bill that would eventually repeal “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.” As Delaware’s Senator, I would not tolerate discrimination of any kind and would proudly stand up for ALL the brave men and women ready to serve our nation.
My Tea Party opponent, Christine O’Donnell, doesn’t just want to keep gays and lesbians out of the military, but women, too.
My opponent has said she believes homosexuality is “an identity disorder” and that having women in the military “cripples the readiness of our defense.”
Okay, we all know that politics is a nasty business, and obviously …
… Chris Coons wants to win an election here. But is there any truth to his campaign’s claims?
Despite having an openly lesbian sister, O’Donnell calls homosexuality a “deviant sexual orientation,” and can’t understand why gays and lesbians have a problem with her saying that. In so doing, she accuses them of “attacking the very center of what is America — freedom to have different views.” O’Donnell also believes homosexuality is, in fact, an “identity disorder” — a medical diagnosis abandoned by the American Psychiatric Association in 1973.
Wow, Christine O’Donnell, maybe it’s time for you to do some research … if you’re spouting off on knowledge of the medical field based on information that’s over thirty years old, you’re either bigoted or a complete moron.
Or, uh, both.
And yeah, Coons seems to be on track regarding her take on women in the military, too. On the role of women in the military – O’Donnell doesn’t think they belong, especially not in our service academies. ”By integrating women into particularly military institutes, it cripples the readiness of our defense,” she told C-Span. In fact, she asserted, “West Point has had to lower their standards … in order for men and women to compete.”
That is some crazy shit. This woman has absolutely no right to judge other women’s capabilities based on her own stupidity. Women in military institutes cripples the readiness of our defense? Are you for fucking real, lady? What, do you think women are going to be waxing their facial hair or bleaching their teeth during Hell Week? That’s just absolutely unbelievable.
To be completely fair, I realize that there’s a tendency to take inflammatory quotes out of context. This is particularly true in the political arena.
But, uh … any idea what else she could have meant by this shit? I hope the people in Delaware are paying good attention to this. [Ed. Note: As a Delaware resident myself, believe me -- we are listening, and her words are coming through loud and clear!]

Shouldn’t she be in the kitchen instead of the guvment?
She is just so horrifying. A true nightmare. Sometimes I wonder if Sarah Palin invented this woman, somehow, so that she could point out, “See, now?! I’m not so bad!”
I think you’re right! Because compared to this woman, Palin is a rational genius!
She doesn’t seem to be a candidate for MENSA,but that is illustrative of the political landscape in America at present. People will vote for anyone who is not part of the mainstream spectrum.
I was under the impression that military academies had lowered there standards in order to admit woman. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing. The military will still weed out the incapable (theoretically). Women in the military is not a bad thing ether there are plenty of non-combat positions that woman can fill “they also serve who only stand and wait”. Women in combat however is a bad idea, for a whole host of reasons. As for gays openly serving in the military I don’t know. It is something that will have to be tried to see how it works. That is the problem, the issue is so political that you cannot trust if it will be judged on its merits. If (more like when) gays are allowed to openly serve and they don’t disrupt and do a good job, then great! A whole new pool of soldiers to draw upon, but if they don’t pull there weight it will be so politically charged there will be no way to get them out, bringing down overall effectiveness. The military should have just tried it early on to see how it worked, now they will have to swallow it regardless of the effects. I guess you could call that poor strategy.
Come on stupid people anyone gay or straight woman or man can do a good job or a bad job in any job or duty. People must be bored with there lives to single out people because they are gay wow. You must be in love with what goes on in a gay persons sex life to be so concerned (Just because you can’t come out the closet) just sad and crazy like most humans.
