Joran van der Sloot, the Man With Ties to the Missing Natalee Holloway, Has Evidently Killed A(nother) Young Woman

Joran van der Sloot is a familiar name to those of us who have followed the death of Alabama’s Natalee Holloway.  Now, he has evidently committed murder again … but was caught red-handed has confessed this time.

From CNN:

Stephany Flores Ramirez’ body was found in van der Sloot’s hotel room last week. The 21-year-old woman was killed after she discovered information on his laptop linking him to Holloway’s disappearance, a source with direct knowledge of the investigation told CNN.

Van der Sloot was interrogated for seven hours Monday, the source said.

The Dutch citizen told investigators that he left the hotel room to buy bread and coffee at a gas station next to the hotel, the source said.

Upon his return, he found Flores going through his laptop, where she found something linking him to the disappearance of Holloway, the source said.

At that point, Flores wanted to leave, and the pair started arguing, according to the source.

Flores slapped van der Sloot, and he hit her back, and then grabbed her neck, the source said.

Van der Sloot told investigators he was intoxicated on marijuana when all this happened, the source said.

Although Flores’ body was found half-dressed, there was no evidence that she had sexual intercourse that night, the source said.

I am completely outraged by this story.  I was outraged when van der Sloot was clearly liable on at least some level for Holloway’s disappearance and probable murder yet managed to weasel out of it, and I am just beyond pissed off that he was given the opportunity to do it again.

Regarding Holloway, van der Sloot’s story has changed extensively, allegedly confessing Holloway’s murder to a journalist secretly recording their meeting and as recently as early 2010 claiming she fell from a balcony.

So, I repeat, why the hell was this guy running around with the chance to just do it all again?  I mean, I believe in due process as much as anybody, but his many and varied stories to the Aruban authorities were full of holes. It just seems to me that he should have been shot imprisoned to keep what obviously happened from being repeated.

Do you think that Joran van der Sloot got away with the murder of Natalee Holloway?  Do you think he will do the honorable thing now and at least give Natalee’s mother, Beth Twitty, some sort of closure since he’s screwed by the Peruvian authorities anyway?

  1. “Intoxicated on marijuana”?

    Spare me.

Ask anyone who has smoked pot – you don’t get violent, you get relaxed and mellow.

It sounds as if he was trying to set up a diminished capacity type defense.

He deserves the harshest sentence possible – whatever it may be.

As far as Aruba goes? That whole thing smelled to high heaven of corruption. I doubt he’ll get away with anything at this point, since his father is dead.

    • Indeed, the whole charade in Aruba was such bullshit. And of course the rich boy gets to go home unscathed. I’m glad it finally caught up to him, although it’s unfortunate that it happened this way.

  2. Well, better start barricading myself in my house every evening; I don’t want to lose it and kill some innocent person because of my ‘marijuana intoxication.’ *rolls eyes*

On a more serious note, I think he was probably responsible for the death of Ms Holloway and the disposal of her remains. Like Sarah, I was shocked during the Holloway case when they released van der Sloot.

It’s terrible that Ms Flores met her untimely end at the hands of this person, although I can’t say that I’m surprised that he would commit this type of crime again. After all, he got away with it in Aruba, why would he think it would be different in Peru?

It’s all terribly sad, and I hope van der Sloot is punished to the maximum extent of the laws under which he will be prosecuted. Now that his chances for a future are dashed, I hope he will come completely clean and reveal what happened to Ms Holloway.

    • I am from Peru but I wasn’t in the country when the murder occurred (I have been studying in Australia for the past 3 years). But, yeah, you’re spot on, that van der Sloot scum chose the worst place to commit a murder; not because the Peruvian legal system is a utopian law enforcing place but quite the contrary it is all about connections and money. Thank God Stephany’s father is a very rich and very well connected business man and car racer so believe me he will be pulling some major strings to make van der Sloot’s life a living hell.
On another note, I don’t buy that story that she miraculously found information implicating van der Sloot to the Holloway murder; that sounds fishy. From what I’ve heard on the news and what my mom (who lives in Lima) has told me they met at a casino and on that same night Stephany won over 7,000 dollars in a poker tournament, so I think it was all about money.
And, van der Sloot also has some convictions in Thailand for women trafficking. That guy should never see daylight.

      • I tend to agree. I’m sure he pegged her because she had money he wanted. But, I can see her possibly Googling his name. He is a pathological liar, so the family may never know the real truth.

  3. According to his story, Ramirez finds out he killed a woman in Aruba. So she (while alone with him) starts a fight about it? What did she say, “I am going to call the cops and get you the death penalty, what are you going to do about it murderer! (slap!)”. It sounds scene from a bad murder mystery. I mean who would be stupid enough to do something like that.

    • I know right?! That just sounds like BS to me. First of all, how did Stephany know where to look, or did van der Sloot had a file named “I killed a girl in Aruba”, I think not. Plus, they left the casino at around 6am, if you’re looking at a computer at that time then you’re probably checking your facebook or something normal for a ‘drunkish’ 21 year old-not going detective Monk on some random guy you just met.
I’ve read in some very opinionated sites that Holloway’s parents payed Stephany 1,000 dollars to get information about van der Sloot (because Halloway’s parents had been tracking his every move around the globe)-yeah, I don’t agree with that either, cause it’s not like Stephany needed the money and we’re getting into some serious bad murder mystery like you said.

      • In van der poops defense nobody is Shakespeare when the cops are shoving a roll of barbed wire up your dirt shoot. On another topic one commenter said he has convictions for woman trafficing in Thailand, how bad a man do you have be for THAILAND to say “OK buddy, now you’ve gone too far”

  4. I don’t think a man who’s killed two girls will do anything “honorable.” Ever. In fact, wasn’t he about to be busted by the FBI for trying to sell information to Natalee’s family about where her body was?

  5. I think he’s going to get some (not a lot, but some) leniency in exchange for telling authorities where to find Natalee’s remains, or giving them information about what happened. That’s what I think will happen to him. What I HOPE will happen to him is a different story.

    • Currently he’s looking at 35 years. I say give him 15 or 25 years and find Ms. Holloway’a body. As I mentioned before, He will not survive 15 years in a Peruvian Prision. That boy will have a rude awakening before his untimely death.

The only warrant out for him now is from Alabama, and they have already said “keep him, we won’t expedite.”
