If you don’t know who these two people are, I’ll give you a brief background: Carol Bartz is the female CEO of Yahoo! networks and companies and Michael Arrington is the co-editor and founder of TechCrunch, which is Silicon Valley-based technology blog discussing start-ups and new technology. Not only are the two notorious for being completely brilliant in their fields (In 2008, TIME magazine named Arrington one of the most influential people in the world and Bartz physically worked her way up to the top of Yahoo! and became its CEO, stating that the company itself needed “some frigging breathing room” so that it could “kick butt.”), the two are also notorious for not getting along with one another. Bartz and Arrington sat down for a televised tête-à-tête just the other day, and compared notes on various projects and didn’t mince any words with each other.
The two, if you’ve watched the video, clearly don’t see eye-to-eye on things. You can even tell by their body language. And Bartz, well, she apparently had no bones about putting Arrington in his place by telling him that he’s more or less nothing, he’s shit, and further adding insult to injury by telling him to “fuck off.” This is coming from a 61 year-old woman that even I would totally not want to mess with. She’s fierce, non-compliant and above all, shrewdly intelligent. And not that I’m choosing sides, but Bartz was her high school’s lead mathematician and Homecoming Queen, worked on her feet to support herself solely when she attended college and received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in 1971 — big doings. She worked at various companies like Sun Microsystems though many told her it wasn’t a “woman’s job,” and survived a bout of breast cancer and beat the snot out of that, too. I’m not even singing her praises that she’s done all of this because she’s a woman … it’s all due to the fact that she’s an amazing person who also happens to be a woman.
So, anyway, after watching the clip, and reading my not-at-all one-sided diatribe favoring Carol Bartz, what do you think of Yahoo!’s CEO? Is she a savvy businesswoman knowing just how to bite back, or is she someone futilely grasping at straws in an effort to deride another who’s merely talked “shit” on her, looking foolish in the purpose?

All you’ve shown us is her side of it. Why is she talking to him like that? It really just makes her look like a bitch when you present it this way.
I wonder how it would be recived if he told her to “fuck off” or demeaned her business in a public forum? Who am I kidding, I have never even heard of the man before and I know he would not.
Look at it this way, if it was two men and one of them said the exact same thing. The men behind the camera would be horrified, but from a woman it gets a harmless chuckle. What does that say about her?
