A whopping 71% of Americans polled state that they don’t even want the former Governor to run, let alone would vote for her.
The poll, conducted by CBS News, continues that only 21% of the remaining 29% would support her as a Presidential candidate. While this can be a very misleading number which can change daily and even on the hour, the Republican side surveyed stated some pretty interesting findings, as well.
Only 56% of individuals who affiliate themselves with the Republican party state that they would want her to run, while a definitive 30% maintain the position that they would support Palin in her run for almost, well, anything.
Related studies also show that for as well as Palin’s did in book sales, the publication did nothing for her popularity. To the contrary, more people feel that the general support for Palin has decreased significantly even from this time last year.
To me, this is pretty surprising. I have many friends who are staunch supporters of the Republican party and who were, and continue to be, Sarah Palin’s biggest fans. Regardless of setbacks that occurred during the McCain/Palin campaign, a huge amount of her followers, who I have personally encountered, still remain steadfast in hoping for a Palin Presidential race in 2012.
Although you’re all aware that I did not, nor would I at this point, support Sarah Palin in previous years it does surprise me that her following has allegedly taken such a hit in what many would consider a very short amount of time.
What about my fellow politicians? How, precisely, are we split here on Zelda Lily in partisanship? If you were formerly a Palin supporter, are you still? Would you still consider it a positive move for Palin to run for President in 2012 and more importantly: would you vote for her?

No way Palin will run in 2012. She has already made the steps in the direction she wants to go and that is in journalism. In addition, I also think she’s looking for the big bucks. President material, heck no, but she does make for an entertaining media star, sort of like those reality shows.
I actually think she would do quite well as a journalist/media person/I’m not sure what she is.
I wouldn’t object to her running in 2012, it would make Obama’s reelection go so much more smoothly.
hehehe
HAHA LOVE IT!! I totally agree! There is nothing in this world that would make me vote for that imbecile.
Don’t let your dedication to liberalism cloud your judgement,he’s got another three years for you to determine whether you want him re-elected.
True. But I’m pretty sure that nothing in the next three years could make me want to vote for Palin…
No matter how poorly Obama does (not that I think he will), he will still be a better president than Bush.
Even if Obama failed miserably as a president, I will never vote for Palin. I have more respect for my country than that!
Bush’s economy was better, because of tax cuts, and his budget deficit was thirty per cent of Obamas, who’s the imbecile here.
Bush has a higher death toll.
That will always matter more than the economy to me.
Obama hasn’t finished with his death count yet, he’s not the antiwar president he claimed to be, thirty thousand troops are in the theatre of Afghanistan.
He didn’t start the war, he’s dealing with it. The highest death toll has come from Iraq, not Afghanistan. I count Iraqi deaths in the toll. They’re people too.
Why would you assume I’m a liberal? I chose Obama because he was the best candidate on the ticket. I don’t vote by party, I vote by candidate. I’m happy with the job he’s doing so far and he’d have to screw up pretty badly for me to be going against him next election.
No way would I ever support Palin for anything.
IMO, she’s a terrible politician and very dangerous for women’s rights. She’s already publicly declared herself to be anti-choice, and that’s a deal breaker for me.
However, that being said, I think it would be fairly entertaining to watch her flop and flail in front of the nation all over again.
If this country goes to hell in a handbasket, which it may,it could be a non-politician that will be elected. Part of the problem in Washington is that were being led by career politicians, well connected and influenced by big bucks lobbyists. We have the best politicians that money can buy,Obama included. That being said,I’ve seen nothing from Ms. Palin that would garner my vote,I voted for Ron Paul.
A couple of points:
First and foremost, what the hell is a hand basket? I’ve always wondered.
Secondly, we need politicians who have the moral fiber to establish ONE term limits.
6 years in any office, then you are out. Done. No more.
Perhaps if they knew that public service was a temporary gig, it would attract more people who truly want to do the right thing. Maybe.
If a President didn’t have to spend his last 18 months in office campaigning for a second term , perhaps they would be better able to focus on the job at hand
And nothing personal – but I wouldn’t vote for Ms. Palin.
Yes! This! SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP, TERM LIMITS!!! PLEASE!!!
@Joey, Honest question here? Do you think Ron Paul would/could ever be elected to office? Could his views actually work in America today?
I know quite a few people who love the man and what he stands for. I have to agree that his ideas sound great, but I just don’t know how they could ever be implemented in the US.
I think if things continue on the same path, yeah he could be elected. He wants to abolish the Federal Reserve, which is radical, but that may be our only solution to the inflation that is lurking in the shadows. We can’t continue with the deficits and growing debt without something snapping.
Does he want to replace it with anything? I’m serious, one thing I’ve always had trouble understanding was why he wanted to get rid of the Reserve and what, if anything, would replace it. If that’s ever possible. Besides, wouldn’t a whole lot of jobs be lost if he did that?
^I’m not trying to be hostile, I really am genuinely curious.
He wants to put money back on the gold standard, and have congress in charge of printing and distributing currency. He’s trying to keep them from printing it on a whim, which causes deficit spending and inflation. I really don’t know if its possible with the massive debt we have, which is tied into the Federal securities that are owned by most foreign governments, and backed by Federal Reserve money.
Huh. As “special” as Congress is, I’m not sure I could trust them to get money printed. I understand the desire to stop frivolous printing, but honestly, Congress can’t manage anything in a timely fashion.
I personally would not vote for Palin because she virtually never comes across as particulalry intelligent. However, I certainly would not vote to re-elect Obama either.
I’m just not going to vote until there’s actually a candidate worth voting for…..which could be a very long wait.
I heard that!
I would not vote for Sarah Palin. I don’t believe she could effectively run a national government. I think she’s ok for the state of Alaska, but not at the federal level. I voted for Ron Paul in the last election, and I will vote for him again. I know him personally (he’s the representative of my hometown), know his unbelievably awesome voting record, and he is the only politician I actually trust. He is a staunch follower of the Constitution, and that’s something I truly love.
Sarah Palin has too much against her right now. I think she’ll be a fantastic news personality on Fox. Hopefully she’ll learn a lot and get some perspective. Maybe in 10-12 years I’ll believe her to be seasoned enough to run this country, but definitely not now, and not soon.
Palin doesn’t want to run for president…she wants celebrity, control and money.
I’ve said it before, Palin is a tap dancing vaudeville act doing the shimmy to the tune of CHA-CHING.
What a knumb skull. Fox News fits her nicely.
I liked her briefly, though questioned her credentials when she was introduced. Over time, her lack of preparation for the job confirmed for me that she was inappropriate for a national leadership position.
While I tend to be right-wing on the voting scale, I could not support someone so woefully unprepared (an excellent reason for not supporting Obama either, to note). The fact that she left her term as Governor early seals it.
Of course, I will absolutely not be voting for her or anyone else in the next presidential election, because I am Canadian. :)
I wouldn’t vote for her (a) because I just don’t much care for her, (b) she’s doing just fine as a media monkey, and (c) because I don’t think she could brow-beat people into doing what she wants as president, because honestly, sometimes a president needs to be able to do that. That’s probably the most specific problem I have with Obama now as well (and yes, I did vote for him); sometimes when things need to be done you just need to get them done.
