Tiger Woods May Be in Sex Rehab

And even though there’s been a ton of coverage for this asshat as it were, I’m using this particular story as a podium to post my primary question: is sexual addiction real?  Can it be “treated” in similar ways as drug addictions are treated?

According to People magazine, Woods may have checked into the high-end sex rehab in Arizona, The Meadows.  The clinic is famed for its sex rehab services and also specializes in compulsive behavior eradication and substance abuse treatment.  Other celebrities have previously stated that they, too, suffer from a debilitating sex addiction. David Duchovny, for one, claimed to be a sex addict.  He was treated at a similar facility and is now said to be “cured.”

I guess my main concern is whether Tiger is, or is not, going through sexual DT’s and what, specifically, they would entail if that were so.  Any input?

No, but really.  Do you guys think sexual addiction is a valid disease or is it another one of the many made-up disorders which allow people to blame their bad judgement and subsequent behavior upon?

I don’t believe that it’s a real addiction. I think if your totally in love with someone, you wont cheat. Tigers game isn’t what it use to be,you kinda wonder if it went to hell after he started his life of philandering, golf is a very mental type game.

I agree. David Duchovny has a sex addiction problem. And he looked at porn instead of cheating on his wife. Because he loved her.

I’m not sure it’s fair to imply that someone can refrain from doing something just because it hurts the person they love.
If sex addiction really is a disease (and not having a medical degree, I haven’t the slightest clue whether there is scientific evidence of this or not), then suggesting that someone could stop in the name of love could be akin to saying that the man with OCD would stop adjusting the carpet in the front hall if he really loved his wife, or that the anorexic would begin eating again if they knew how much it was hurting their family.
Psychological conditions are very serious medical disorders, and can’t always being over come by sheer will.
That being said, Tiger might just be a cheating asshole trying to cover his ass in the name of his reputation.
    Who knows.

Well, I am not a doctor as well, but I could imagine that people who ummm suffer (somehow this does not seem an appropriate word) from sex addiction may have a very low self-esteem. So they resort to having sex with many different people in order to get that confirmation “yes you are sexy and thus worth something”. Then again, I wouldn’t call this an addiction, but maybe that’s just a laymans term.

Did you hear about the paranoid dyslectic,he was always afraid that he was following someone. Sorry, sometimes I just can’t help myself.

I can believe it’s a real addiction, it’s possible to get addicted to just about anything if you have that addiction switch in your brain. I don’t believe addiction is an excuse however. He didn’t have to sleep around, he could has sought treatment sooner or used porn or any number of other courses of action.

I feel like it’s a celebrity thing. Like a celebrity’s PR machine always has to have them appear contrite and then *solve* whatever issue they’ve had and then TA-DA, they’re on the market again, all is forgotten. Rehab, sex-addiction, anger management etc. – Sometimes people just like partying (I’m looking at you, Lohan), like fucking, or like throwing phones.
