And no, I’m not going to make any comments about ‘dead weight’ no matter how I’ve disagreed in the past with some of her politics, either, thank you.

Actually, I think this is a good move for her. I know that the audience here has been literally torn in half on their opinions of Palin and her policies but I want to pose this story in a very non-partisan way.

Palin recently signed with Fox News as a Special Contributor on a regular basis — something that could turn into a multiple year affair.

Although formal details such as compensation, publicity and the particular type of segment she’d be presenting haven’t yet been released, I think it’s a pretty good political move for Ms. Palin. 2012 is fast-approaching and this might just be the type media blitz that she intended to go public with in the last election.

I voted the straight Democratic ticket in 2008 and did so — at this point — with no regrets. My main adversity toward Palin was her running mate, John McCain. He and I never got along. I feel that the majority of her social downfall was the fact that she never seemed prepared enough for the media. And interviews. And press conferences. Which are all the same, I guess, but have different formats. She was never fully prepared and yet, who do I blame for that? Yes, just the same: her running mate, John McCain. He took a very non-prolific politician who had less experience with public speaking and international politics than I, myself, claim to and thrust her into a major Presidential race. How did he expect it to turn out?

History aside, I think that it’s a pretty smart business and political move on Sarah’s part that she’ll be taking this position at the Republican-supporting Fox News. It could give her a lot of education, a lot of experience in the public arena and even more experience in taking criticism effectively.

Should Palin really achieve her potential — which, although I disagreed with her in the past on many occasions, is pretty high — 2012, should she decide to run again, could be pretty damned interesting. I’ll admit, I’m a die-hard fan of MSNBC but I might have to check her segments out, simply on the basis to educate myself a bit more on a woman who could be held in much higher regard in a few years.

My mom’s gonna bust out the champagne when I tell her this. She loooves Sarah Palin and has Fox News on just about 24/7.

As for myself, frankly, I do tend to be more conservative than liberal (but I don’t align myself with any particular party). That being said, however, I cannot recall ever hearing Sarah Palin say anything reasonably intelligent for a woman of her position.

So….good for her, but…..I don’t know that I’ll be watching her!

I think this is a great business move for her, but I don’t really see it as a way for her to ease back in to the political arena.
The fact that she quit her term as Governor early is going to work against her from now on.
I also think that this anchor position will provide too many occasions for her to say things that will be brought up in a negative light in any future campaigns.

I do totally agree that McCain should never have picked her to run and then thrust her into the spotlight with so little preparation.
But she wasn’t forced to take the job. I think she bears some of the responsibility for taking on a job she was clearly unqualified for. That screams greed to me. Ambition is one thing, and I have no problem with that. But when you’re talking about serving the American public, ambition should take a backseat to doing what’s best for the people. Running for an office you know you aren’t qualified for is out of line with public service. It becomes self service, plain and simple. There’s nothing admirable about that.

Wow, I agree with you 1,000%. On every point you made.

Sarah has more administrative experience than Barry Obama, his main selling point was he made a convincing speech. He probably should be selling used cars at a south Chicago car lot.

        **sigh**

Way to take it down a notch Joey.

I’m an admitted Liberal and I think this will be a good move for her personally – but I don’t believe she will be any kind of real factor in Presidential stakes going forward.

Thank you for the non-partisan, respectful article covering Sarah Palin. Seriously. It was very refreshing to see her not berated and belittled by someone who completely disagrees with her policies. It happens too often that people lower themselves to namecalling and such (on BOTH sides of the political spectrum), and it doesn’t help anything, ever. Respectful, openminded political debates are few and far between in the national spotlight these days, and I find that terribly sad. If only we could get the idea of not bickering like 6 year olds through the heads of some (MANY) of our elected officials, we’d all be much better off, I feel.

if she does go work for fox she should probably avoid running for president. its pretty unethical… from a journalistic perspective. checks and balances? the media is *supposed* to play a role in that (traditionally)… so if youve got a candidate for president writing news… well that just reiterates what ive always said about fox. as much as it disgusts me… i cant say im surprised by this match-up.

Uber-Conservative Man has a prediction for 2012,third party will be the news story of the decade. I’m not sure who will be driving that bus,and I don’t know how successful it will be,but it will be a major influence in the political arena.

That really was a refreshing take on Palin. As an Alaskan, I have to say I’d never vote for her for president, especially after she bailed on her governorship. I don’t agree with a lot of her policies, but I have to say, the only thing I find truly disturbing about the idea of her running for president would be her die-hard supporters in the lower forty-eight. Those people are scary. If you want to vote for her because you agree with her politics that’s fine. When she was governor in Alaska everybody got a whopping $3,200 from the PFD and energy stipend, which certainly made us pretty happy. She’s a strong woman, who has reached a level of success that any feminist could admire. I think a lot of people don’t base their support for her in fact, but more in her image and her party alignment. No matter what she says or does she will have their blind support. The same thing can be said for Obama though, so I guess rabid supporters of any politician just scare the bejeezus out of me.

She’s a disaster. As a liberal, I am THRILLED! Nothing could discredit either her or FAUX Nooze any more than this could. Bravo!
