Italian Reporter Aims Low Blow at David Beckham … and His Package

In really weird news, David Beckham was recently interviewed in a tour stop in Italy.  A female reporter, Elena Di Cioccio, is an anchor for the Italian version of The View and had her own agenda during question-and-answer time while Beckham visited the country.

After becoming all hot and bothered by Beckham’s steamy Armani underwear ads, the reporter began to question him on whether or not his pinups were photoshopped in order to present a bigger package than what was actually under the tree.  When he responded coyly, the reporter took matters into her own hands and tried to take his member into her own hands, too.

Once David caught wind of what was trying to go down, he was pulled away from the crowd by his team and redirected back to his hotel.  The reporter unabashedly yelled after him:

“David you have conned us all! … It’s all a trick!”

Now, whether or not she actually did get a handful, who knows.  All I do know is that her retort, after being caught, is one of the best one-liners I’ve ever heard in my life.  Thanks for the laugh, lady.

  1. I dunno, I feel kinda… dirty about this. Her retort, while quippy and amusing, is just… I dunno, I try to imagine if it were me and some guy reporter asked me if my boobs were real and then groped them to find out. I’d be incredibly angry and feeling more than a little disrespected.

    • Same here. It bothered me far more than it amused me. Especially considering what the fallout might be if the gender roles were reversed (I think I remember a journalist or director grabbing Scarlet Johanson’s boob at an awards show a few years ago–not funny either).

      • It was Isaac Mizrahi in the Scarlett Johanssen incident, and he was actually poking/grabbing at her underbust area to try to figure out the construction of her dress, which he was very interested in because it was doing AMAZING things for her boobs but looked completely un-constructed, which of course spoke to him as a dress designer. It’s the kind of thing that’s okay for a designer to do in the course of his work (models get poked and prodded all the time as dresses get re-fitted and re-constructed around them), but really not okay on the red carpet with an actress who had definitely not signed up for that kind of thing.

So not sexual in the Mizrahi case, since he wasn’t even going after her boobs and they just kinda happened to be there, but yes, it was REALLY latched onto as offensive since it was a case of a man touching a woman in the breast area without explicit permission. Different reasoning (complete lack of situational awareness vs. actually AIMING for an inappropriate area), but still really unacceptable.

  2. I agree that she’s pretty gross for trying what she tried but I still think her response to the situation was pretty funny.

    • I think if she made such a comment that ‘I don’t believe it – you’re fooling us all!’, that would be funny. Once she’s crossed the physical line, I’m not willing to laugh at anything she says.

  3. Funny? There’s nothing funny about that at all. That is sexual harassment, and probably assault if she succeeded.

Would there be anything funny at all about a male reporter asking Victoria Beckham about her breasts, and grabbing a handful to check if they’re real?* This is completely unacceptable behaviour in any case, and should not be considered funny instead of offensive because it is female on male instead of the opposite.

    Fail on this one.

*Victoria Beckham was a convenient example being his wife and in the ads as well. I am not trying to suggest that anyone would need to cop a feel to determine the plasticity of her balloons.

    • He does, apparently quite a long one too. I know there are nude photos of him out there but I don’t much care to find them myself/
