The 10th edition of Merriam-Webster’s dictionary has been taken off of the shelves in the Menifee school district in California because it contained the definition of oral sex.

Pardon me if I’m wrong, but being that the term “oral sex” is a relatively newer phrase, wouldn’t kids eventually just be clever enough to look up “fellatio” or “cunnilingus” as it were?  Seems kind of silly to me, really, even just based upon my previous comment.   Though, to delve deeper yet into the absurd topic, it’s not only asinine and immature to play into kids looking up dirty words in the dictionary (’cause come on: you’ve all done it at some point or another, I’m sure), it projects a skewed reality that’s just not feasible.

Maybe school districts should be focusing on more socially-appropriate themes such as sexual education and awareness in preventing practices like sexual discrimination and “slut-shaming” than to expend the energy in pulling dictionaries off of the shelves that have words and phrases like penis, vagina, sexual intercourse and oral sex in them.

I would think that after reading about the Clinton administration in history class, you would need to look up oral sex. Talk about containing the thirst for knowledge.
