My friend Rebecca emailed me last night: “Did you catch Meghan McCain on Colbert tonight?” Luckily, the show hadn’t yet aired in my time zone, so I set my DVR and checked out her interview. I just love her. She was obviously super nervous, but she said her bit and stood up for her beliefs and refused to diss her father’s running mate. (I’m sure her Palin rants will be in her book, whenever she writes one, and I look forward to that day.)
Again, Meghan’s anti-abortion, and she and I differ there, but I just think she’s so cute when she talks about being “pro-sex” and how she doesn’t want to “practice anything I didn’t preach,” and then turns bright red. “My father’s gonna watch that! God!” she cries out.
“I’m liberal on social issues,” she explains, and I love her for making that distinction. I’m with you, Meghan: Liberal on social issues, although I tend to side with Republicans on other issues. I won’t vote for their party, however, until their candidates catch up with the times in terms of those issues. Preaching abstinence is unrealistic right now, as is continuing to rally against equality. Thank you for continuing to hammer in that point.

I wish the rest of the Republican party would take a hint from Ms. McCain. It would be nice to have two parties I could consider voting for.
I’ve always had a crush on her.
Really? You really side with Republicans on other issues? Like what? The economy? Oh say it ain’t so.
