Girl vs. Girl: Bikini Girl Takes on Kara DioGuardi

I, for one, was impressed when Kara DioGuardi showed up on the American Idol finale to out-sing her audition nemesis, Bikini Girl Katrina Darrell (clip above). Kara was funny and gracious and adult about the whole thing, and I respected her decision to make peace with the younger girl in a comical and entertaining way.
Katrina didn’t think the whole thing was so funny. In a new interview with Radar, she slams Kara for the incident, which she wasn’t told about beforehand. (What? You really thought you were gonna get to sing a whole song by yourself?)
“I don’t think she got the reaction she was hoping for. I think she probably thought I would cry or get mad, and I didn’t — I played it off,” Katrina said. “Looking back at the tape, she just made herself look stupid; she didn’t make me look stupid.”
Darrell also claimed that “Idol” producers cut off her mic when DioGuardi surprised her onstage. “I knew there were 100 million viewers, so I couldn’t cry,” she said. “I couldn’t get mad. I just had to smile and deal with it. The show producers kind of said, ‘I’m sorry.’ I think they tested me. I think I did really well, considering all that I went through.”
After the show, Darrell said her little sister had a nasty run-in with DioGuardi backstage. “We were walking, and [Kara] said, ‘Oh, sweetie, I hope you didn’t take anything personally,’ ” Darrell recalled. “I rolled my eyes, and my sister said, ‘Hey, next time you try to upstage my sister, get a spray tan! How old are you — 45 or 50?’ I looked back and shrugged. She kind of said what I was thinking but couldn’t say!”
As for who looked better in a bikini, Darrell said: “Well, I’m not 50 years old, and I do spray tan!”
Honestly? I’m just really embarrassed for Katrina Darrell right now. At 21, I probably didn’t understand the importance of supporting your fellow women, either. A few years later, I have a completely new perspective. It was awesome of Kara to get up there and show off how talented and hot she is at the age of 39, and Paula Abdul did the right thing by standing up and screaming her support. I can understand how Katrina was maybe a little bit pissed that Kara stole her spotlight, but the gracious and adult thing to do would have been to congratulate Kara on a killer performance and express her gratitude at sharing the stage with such an accomplished woman. Hopefully when Katrina gets a little older she’ll look back on this interview and realize how petty it makes her look.
I, for one, am shocked. Just kidding! Katrina came across as 100% vapid and spoiled way back during auditions. I’m glad Kara showed her up.
This was one of the best parts of the entire show! I’m so glad that Kara did this. I don’t think Katrina got the point in the first place that they just wanted to make fun of her on national television… since that’s the whole point of the ‘Golden Idols.’

That was hilarious and amazing! That Katrina and her little sister are coming off very as very pathetic. I had no idea that Kara was 39, I though she was n her 20’s, guess I was wrong. And holy, her voice is amazing! Now, she has got talent, and a smoking body! haha

So because you get a fake tan that automatically makes you hotter? I prefer people to look natural and not orange or fake.
Ugh, I don’t like either of them that much but “bikini girl” takes the cake for annoying contestants. Her and the hyena laughing girl Tatiana or whatever should just fade away together.
I hate them both. I especially hate Kara for that HORRID “no Boundaries” single.

haha that no boundaries song was soo terrible. I think Kara was a really good judge this year and i hope they replace Paula with her because Paula has never contributed any sound advice to any contestant before.I loved that she did this… im sure it took a lot of balls to go out in front of america in a bikini and the fact that she did it for charity is even cooler! and bikini girl just pisses me off. i think she’s the living embodiment of the phrase “you can’t fix stupid”
I never liked Kara because I thought that instead of acting like a music industry veteran, she was always competing for the spotlight with the other judges and even the contestants. Simon almost always let her have her say without interruption, but she almost never allowed him the same courtesy. And a judge should never compete with a contestant. It undermines the integrity of the judge.
It was funny and tittilating. But I think both Kara and Katrina embarassed themselves Wednesday night. At least Katrina has an excuse – she is young, inexperienced and immature.

That is some bullshit, im an american idol fan but at the same time i live in the real world, it is quite clear here that katrina had no idea kara was gonna show up, they cut her out and that is ridiculous. Classless, as per usual by american idol.
