Sometimes I am confused by people who are supposedly this pro-life and yet do stuff like IVF and freezing embryos. If their pro-life view is one based in religion, shouldn't they take it as a sign that God did not WANT them to have children? (or at least, this freaking many). I mean, you are going out of your way to escape "god's plan" for you or whatever.

Also with her supposedly not wanting to destroy life-- I think I would personally be far more concerned about harming the lives of my children that I already have. Shouldn't this have been her first, main concern? If she was already having difficulty supporting 6 children, why on earth would you try for more? Why didn't she care more about the well-being of her half dozen children? This, I think, is what concerns me the most about her.

I worry now fame is growing more important than her children too (like how she supposedly fired the free nurses because she wouldn't be able to film a show).

Oh, don't get me wrong. The woman is certainly a few fruit loops short of having a full box! I didn’t know that fertilized eggs could be adopted. Thanks for that information. But again, if even some of the eggs are donated to science or being disposed of, why don’t you ever hear about people protesting it? Also, yes she is an EXTREME case and I am not taking up for her in any way! She is nuts. But the American people are in an uproar over it. When she is just one woman with 14 kids… There are millions of unwed mothers and teenage mothers and millions of illegitimate kids in America that no one seems to care that they are sucking off of the government. Unwed mothers and children make up the larges percentage of people on Welfare. That is the big problem. People need to get some perspective. One woman with 14 kids wouldn’t be that big of a drain compared to other MILLIONS! Octomom + 14 kids = 15 compared to MILLIONS? Which is the larger burden?

LT -- I was midway through a response to your first comment when I realized I didnt' know what I was talking about and shouldn't be commenting myself. I didn't think Kate Gosselin used IVF, but truly, wasn't sure...and I have to give you kudos for stepping up and acknowledging an error. I quit my initial comment on the basis of not knowing...but I want you to know I'm in your corner. You go, girl. Whatever it is, it doesn't ring true with many of us, that's clear.

Sorry im not finished with this crazy octomum, yet.

How is this Pro-choice??
Fair enough, this crazy octomum doesnt want to destroy life.

We all know that she cant support them herself, she couldn't support the 6 kids. Im good with math, i dont believe 14 kids makes it any easier.

she is totally whoring her kids for profit.

Not to mention what the public doesnt know. Where and when did she go to to get the embryos implanted. I'm sure she had to lie to the doctors, either about her age or about her kids at home.

I dont understand why this is pro-choice. The bottom line is this crazy octomum enjoys the fame. What did she do as soon as she got her first payday?? She went to get her fish-lips, her claws and gods know what else.

What did she do for the kids? Nothing! She even fired the nurses who offered free service, they even said she's a famewhore. Even her lawyers (2 not 1) who wanted to offer her legal advice bailed out on her. Why?? Because she is fucking crazy.

This lady is crazy. As soon as they take away those kids to be safer place then ill rest my case. Have you guys seen how she talks in the interview?

Was she on drugs? Im not a psycologist, but something tells me this lady should be put in a safe environment from the kids.

I can understand your point, but i have to disagree on so many level.

There are so many points to be raise. All i gathered from this article is that, you mentioned that she saw those embryo as lifes and didnt want them destroyed. And its her Pro-choice.

But let me see if i can understand the whole thing. Correct me if im wrong.

She has 6 kids at home, 3 are disabled. Living at home, with financial difficulty, relying 100% on her mum to support the kids.

I think you're spot on about her being radically pro-life, and I support her right to make any choice about her body she sees fit. However, I think her decision may turn out to be horribly irresponsible and damaging to her children. She was probably counting on some sort of lucrative sponsorship in order to pay for necessities, but most companies seem to be staying as far away from that as possible. Will she really be able to support 14 children without outside help? In addition, she's been inviting the media circus this whole time, as has her mother. What does that say about her intentions?

In other news, octo-tummy? Bad form. Sounds like Us Weekly style commentary.

Funny how no one is attacking Kate Gosselin's doctor for being irresponsible for implanting six embryos. Granted, she had the means for it (or if she didn't she sure does now) and the father was in the picture, but the medical practice was exactly the same.

You can certainly donate embryos for adoption. They call them snowflake adoptions. I have friends that used in vitro and had they not used thier last 3 on their final (and successful attempt-twins) they planned to allow the embyros to be adopted.

And yes, it is perfectly fine for her to make that decision but not in the face of not being able to care for those children financially at all and expecting the state to pick up the tab. That's part of the process of in vitro. You have to accept that from the beginning that you may not use all of the embryos created. If you can't use all the embryos stored you either donate them to science, they are destroyed, or donated for adoption. And yes, while it was her right to choose it still doesn't mean the taxpayers should cover her decision. I really don't think it's a matter of being radically pro-life. It's a matter of her sheer selfishness. You don't add one other child to a bad situation (no job, already utilizing the system for assistance, incomplete education) let alone 8. She wanted more kids plain and simple and she selfishly took it to the extreme.

Sasha, you're avoiding the issue of how completely fucking irresponsible it was, on every level, by both Octomom AND her doctor to even GIVE THOUGHT to the idea of implanting the six embryos at once, regardless of how she felt about them. THAT's where the error started, and ultimately, where it ends. You can't bank on "oh, well, I won't carry all six (as it turns out eight) babies to term."

Terrible. The whole thing is awful, irresponsible, and awful.
