A Manhattan Federal judge has dismissed as frivolous an “antifeminist” lawsuit filed against Columbia University by attorney Roy Den Hollander. In his class action suit, Den Hollander argued that Columbia, a private institution that receives government funding and is therefore subject to federal law, is guilty of propagating a “religionist belief system called feminism” in violation of the First Amendment. Shrewdly contending that women’s studies are “a bastion of bigotry against men” and “demonize[s] men and exalt[s] women in order to justify discrimination against men based on collective guilt,” he further accused the school of violating equal protection by failing to offer men’s studies courses.
If your first thought, like mine, was “wow, he must have had a bad breakup,” you’re exactly right. In an earlier NY Times article, Den Hollender admits that a 2001 divorce with a woman he married in Russia helped solidify his anti-woman views. Make that a really bad breakup.
Den Hollander may have lost the battle versus Columbia, but he continues the war against women in other dubiously noble lawsuits. When he’s not fighting atrocities such as Ladies Night, he’s opposing Violence Against Women Act, or, as he calls it on his website, the “Female Fraud Act.”
Interestingly, Den Hollander differs from the typically insane pro se litigant in at least one critical respect. He’s well educated, with a law degree from George Washington University Law School, experience at one of the top NYC law firms and a business degree from … where else? Columbia Business School.
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.

That guy is a load. He wouldn’t deserve a woman to piss down his throat if his heart was on fire. Are you kidding me? His website is absolutely absurd, men have to pay more to get into the bar, well no shit. If you don’t like it GO TO A DIFFERENT BAR! Man how this guy passed the bar exam is beyond me, fucktards shouldn’t be allowed on the bench.

plus as a man i love ladies night. i don’t care if they get in cheaper it means there’s more of them and no man is against that.
I know, Right?!
“Den Hollender admits that a 2001 divorce with a woman he married in Russia helped solidify his anti-woman views.”
Oh, one of those neandrathal men who marry a mail order bride they think they can control. Sad…that he can afford to launch frivolous lawsuits to help ease his wounded pride.
Tony Moshenelli, first of all you are not a man. You, my dear, Ma’am are a prime example of what gives most feministas such a bad name. You can not have an intelligent conversation without you breaking into name calling.
I personally believe in equal rights for all persons. Because, the decisions that we make as a collective society effects everyone. I do, however, disagree in labeling or giving special attention to any one group. These groups, rather it be feminist, or profoundly black institutions, do not seek equality but rather superiority. These groups drives the diverse nature of each group farther apart instead of bringing them closer together which would be the true goal of these groups if they were actually seeking true equality. When was the last time that you heard a feminist say, “I understand that my insurance premiums are less expensive because of my gender, however, I wish to pay more so that men and women can achieve equality”? or a black person telling the NAACP that they didn’t want their help because they felt that they deserved to achieve their goals using the same resources that everyone else has access to.
The true scope of these “hate” groups is realized when you imagine how they would react if someone began an organization called the NAAWP “National Association for the Advancement of White People” ? People would be in an uproar! Fighting for equality is one thing. When you have to label a specific group in order to shove their beliefs down people throats that do not share their views is wrong. I do not believe in “Black History Month” or “Women‘s Studies“! I do not feel that any institution has the right to force my children to study Black History, Women‘s studies or any subject that does not address people as a whole. This country was built on the blood, sweat and tears of Men, Women, Blacks, Whites and a races from all over the world.
Someone made a comment about men sending overseas for mail order brides. If all you had to choose from were men who felt they were better than you or that would leave you at a drop of a hat because they have a chip on their shoulder because they are a “strong empowered man”, wouldn’t you look somewhere else for a people with a little different values? Men look to mail order brides in order to find someone who will love them for who they are and not want to compete with them because of what they are. When you go home, it is supposed to be a safe haven where you can relax and feel at peace. Instead, feminist have turned the home into a place where men feel they have to continue to compete with someone. So, its sort of like taking your work home with you. There is no rest! I personally can not afford to send overseas for a wife. If my current marriage doesn’t work out someday, I’m going gay!
“The true scope of these “hate” groups is realized when you imagine how they would react if someone began an organization called the NAAWP “National Association for the Advancement of White People” ”
I hate when people say stuff like this. The NAACP was founded during a time when black people were still being highly persecuted in America. They have done a lot of good, like fighting Jim Crow laws and segregation. They were founded by a very real, and very prevalent problem.
Yes, if suddenly, white people were treated like second class citizens, I would expect that people would form a group to help out them.
Things like “Women’s Studies” have been carved out because women are underrepresented in history. Why are you so opposed to Women’s Studies? Isn’t it usually just elected courses, or a major that one chooses? No one is forced to get a degree in Women’s Studies.
Black History Month, I am guessing, is to remind us all what black people had to go through, yes even in the last century, in this country.
I actually agree with most of what you said, but he needs for these left over groups no longer serve a purpose except to remind us of what once was. We need to drop them and its time to move on…. And if suddenly, white people were treated like second class citizens, I would expect that people would form a group to help out them. You better look around!
no longer serve a purpose? Really? Women aren’t still treated as less than men in many situations? You can tell, cuz we have had like 30 women presidents by now, and women run half the major companies and shit. Yeah, everyone thinks that the sexes are totally samesies now.
Black people aren’t still dealing with horrible discrimination? Assholes aren’t still muttering a bunch of racist shit all over the internet? *clears throat* My god, I had no idea that our wonderful little country has achieved such an utopian state of absolutely no racism. We should totally forget our past disgusting behavior, because everyone knows that history doesn’t repeat itself. Oh wait.
If you think you are being treated as a second class citizen solely because you are white, you need to pull your head out of your ass and research what real discrimination is all about. Oh please.
by the way, you just bitched about the presence of “Women’s Studies” on a feminist blog. How funny.
So the solution to segregation and oppression is…more segregation?
I’m not exactly following. Anyone can take women studies’ courses/majors (Or African American studies, or Chicano Studies, and so on), and the NAACP isn’t pro-segregation by any means.
As a woman, I am often regarded strangely when I say I hate Feminists.
The capitalization of the word Feminist indicates the specific type of feminist. The kind who believes that men are inferior beings. The kind who is angry, and accuses all men of being evil and against women.
I see nothing wrong with feminism. But when you take something as good as demanding equal rights for women, and take it to the degree that most Feminists have, there’s something wrong.
Women are not superior to men. We are all human beings. We are capable of the same things (although with different inherent strengths in different places)
I went with one of my friends to a Womens’ Studies class. I was terrified. It was not a proper representation of women in history; it was a circle of man-hating. These women were blaming men for everything that has ever gone wrong in their lives or in lives past. To me, this seemed rather counter-productive. Should women not be taking their fates into their own hands, rather than blaming any failures on men?
I am a woman. I am strong. I have a black belt in karate. I am an engineering student, and that has long been a male-dominated field. Who have I been held back by the most in my life?
Women.
Women are the ones who made fun of me for enjoying math and science classes. Women are the ones who treat me like a freak because I’d rather design machinery than clothing. Women are the ones who have shunned me for not sharing their interest in frivolous things like shoes and clothes. Women are the ones who have called me names because I had many male friends.
I have never been called a slut by a man. I have never been told that I should not pursue my chosen career path by a man. In fact, men have been very enthusiastic about my life choices… even complete strangers.
Yes, some men have old-fashioned views. It’s easier to change their opinions by showing them an example of a normal, healthy woman who can maintain her femininity while doing things a man might traditionally have done than it is to make a woman accept me as such.
You say the man is oppressing you; I say it’s yourselves. It’s the 20th century now. Act like it.
Feminism (or feminism) is a very large framework, and has so many different factions. I’m quite sure that the number of “man-hating feminists” is in reality very small, though it is the image that’s hugely inflated and promoted. It’s a tactic to discredit feminist scholarship and input.
You are describing a very simplistic “shallow women” / “supportive men” dichotomy. Because of how simplistic this is, I conclude it’s bullshit. Nothing in real life is that clean-cut.
BS? Not at all.
I speak simply from my experiences.
Any woman I have met who has labelled herself a feminist tends to adhere to the “men are evil” belief system. We’re at a point in Western society where there is no need to declare yourself a feminist simply because you believe in equal rights.
We earned the right to vote years ago. We can work at the same jobs as men (but often do not choose to). We are able to do anything that men are able to do.
Feminists need to get over themselves, in my humble opinion. Maybe instead of fighting for the rights of the poor, downtrodden women in their country, they should be more focused on being humanitarians. There are atrocious things happening elsewhere to women. Should we stop this because they are women? No. The atrocities committed against women in third-world countries should be stopped because no HUMAN BEING deserves that treatment.
You preach against dichotomies, but that is precisely what feminists are for. Protect the WOMEN. Protect the WOMEN’S rights. Any man who cares similarly about men is a chauvinist.
There was an interesting case at my school, where some men decided to draw attention to the Feminist’s club. They decided to try to get an official Chauvinist’s club started, and were denied. Why? It’s only fair.
And yes, nothing in life is clean-cut. But it’s often close enough for all intents and purposes. However, in case you are too busy burning your bras to get the basic idea behind my point, here it is, in really simple terms:
I have strong, smart female friends. I know men who are truly chauvinistic jerks. But all in all, I have found that THE MAJORITY of women I have met are holding themselves back. They are the ones who think that it’s not appropriate for women to be good at math and science. They are the ones who view themselves as merely ornamental. Men (in Western society) have not forced women into this role for decades. Women continue to follow historical roles while crying “OPPRESSION!”. They need to stop complaining, take a look at themselves, and realize that maybe if they were to try fixing that computer or opening that jar, they’d be a lot better off, and a lot more attractive in the eyes of men.
I’ve always felt that stereotypes are grounded in truth. To be sure, there are always exceptions. There’s a reason, though, that beer is marketed to men. There’s a reason why cleaning products are marketed to women. Because it works.
If women really wanted to shrug the stereotype, they’d stop fulfilling it instead of expecting it to magically change.
ever heard of stereotype threat? That’s one main theory why women, in your eyes, may be underperforming in certain areas.
I’m a feminist and I support equal rights. I am also a huge supporter of gay rights, which clearly doesn’t define whether the person is a man or woman. I just believe in equal rights for everyone. I don’t think men are evil; and I think that is a silly assumption of feminism.
oh, and fyi, it’s the 21st century.
If you are able to do all of these things – thank a Feminist.
You are taking a LOT for granted, miss.
Quite honestly – your attitude is offensive.
Who do you think you are to decry what others do and are interested in and label it frivolous?
Then you whine about what is said about your interests in the next sentence.
Grow up. There is still an appalling gap in what men and women are paid in this country. Your denial of such basic facts is condescending, to say the very least.
Or, how about many health insurance providers still refusing to cover the cost of birth control – but they never questioned paying for Viagra.
Did you read the post from the woman who needed an abdominoplasty after a massive weight loss, but was turned down by her health insurance? She was told that is she were a man, it would have been covered because the hanging panicula would have interfered with HIS ability to enjoy intercourse.
YOU are living in a dream world.
And yes – it is the 21st century.
You would certainly think these issues would be covered by now, wouldn’t you?
Has anyone heard that Hollander and one of his oily clients, Bruce Cardozo, filed a lawsuit trying to get the Violence Against Women Act, thrown out. It seems that Mr. Cardozo, whom I unfortunately met, was arrested for beating up his Russian Mail Order Bride – claims she scammed him. He blames The Feminists (whoever they are – do they meet every Tuesday in secret?) for thism even though in my presence in one of the most disgusting nights of my life claimed that “It’s ever man’s fantasy to purchase a mail order bride.” How disgusting.
What is particularly cowardly about this misogynist is that he wants to hurt tens of thousands of battered women because his marriage to a Russian blow-up doll didn’t work out,, but he doesn’t want anyone to know about it. He will probably contact this web site crying, wanting this removed. What this baby doesn’t realize – just yet – is that in his town of L.A. 2 different domestic violence agencies – one is one of the biggest in the nation – is going to make him quite famous, as they have seen his hateful lawsuit.
Call up and cry, Cardozo!
Tyrelle Butterscotch
I’ll bet there are many other stories (sickening and funny) going around about these 2.
GOOD GOD, LEAVE IT ALONE!
Seriously Whit, take your own advice and leave it alone. I don’t think this one is going away any time soon but there’s really no point in getting worked up about it. Would be nice if we could block the IP address or just the emails that this troll is using to talk to himself though.
I want to beat them.
Hard.
With a pointy stick.
See what you have done?
Perhaps Rhonda & Whit do not take seriously what this monster tried to do to battered women and their children.
Perhaps “good taste” is more important to them than exposing this hideous lawsuit and the person behind it.
Or perhaps Rhonda believes that anyone who does domestic violence awareness volunteerv work is a “troll.”
Or perhaps Rhonda herself doesn’t care about battered women.
Sure seems that way.
No Rhonda, when it comes to guys like this that openly want to hurt battered women and their children, we WILL NOT LEAVE IT ALONE.
Perhaps it’s time for Rhonda to
A- visit a battered women’s shelter
B- get some sensitivity training
We notice that Rhonda did not respond to what was directed at her. Perhaps she is ashamed that she defended this cretin, or she is simply too insensitive to care about the battered women in this country
W.B.A.
Or maybe I just don’t sit here 24 hours a day waiting for the next installment in troll carp. If you want to talk to yourself then get your own blog. If there were an actual story here about domestic abuse then I would comment on it and discuss it with the other commentators. That is not the case. There is just you making up stories to post on random articles and using multiple email addresses to make it look like there are people who are interested in your BS. How’s about you just shut up and leave.
Shut up and leave? I could say the same thing about you, Rhonda!
The story begins with Hollander and extends out west here to a dangerous baby who whines every time his name is mentioned. The STORY is that these “men” filed a lawsuit trying to get the Violence Against Women’s Act thrown out because their marriages to pieces of foreign “property” (Russia) didn’t work out.
And the perp out west here WAS arrested for domestic violence and blamed THE FEMINISTS for this. He claimed that the bruises were painted on and then claimed that it fooled a cop, a D.A, and finally a judge. Even if someone is wrongfully convicted (and I have met this misogynist, and he IS GUILTY), you don’t take it out on the battered women and their children of America.
Some of the largest and most influential domestic violence awareness groups in the nation applaud passing this news around.
That’s the story, Rhonda – if you don’t want to read it, then don’t comment on it!
And I will be setting up a website dedicated to these two.
Perhaps you can explain why you DON’T want word of this spread around – I see that Whit has gone silent on the issue.
And I don’t do this 24 hours a day – it’s been 2 whole days!
And we don’t know who Lisa Thompson ot Tyrelle Butterscotch are, except that Tyrelle knows him/them too!.
W.B.A.
I think we are all just happy as hell that you are admitting and confronting your problem by forming Wife Beaters Anonymous.
BRAVO!
Blurry- Please get in the very small line that supports the remonal of the VAWA: “the right to beat up women.”
W.B.A.
My problem? Nice attempt at wit.
Nice try, Blurry.
